Admission

The MTI Programme offers two intakes, one in January and another in August.

Admission to the MTI Programme will be based on a candidate’s prior academic record, language proficiency, and professional experience.

Prospective students should meet one of the following requirements:

 1.   A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution plus evidence of language proficiency in English and Chinese, such as:

  • A good pass in GCE ‘A’ Level General Paper, or equivalent;
  • A good pass in GCE ‘O’ Level CL1, or Higher Chinese, or equivalent;
  • A certificate of language proficiency in English or Chinese for international applicants whose first language is not English or Chinese, such as:
a.   a valid certificate of English proficiency:
- IELTS: with a total score of 6.5 and above (6.0 and above for each component); or

- TOEFL iBT: with a total score of 90 and above

b.   a valid certificate of Chinese proficiency:
- HSK Level 6: with a total score of 250 and above (80 and above for both Listening and Writing and 90 and above for Reading)
 
 2.  Other qualifications and relevant work experience, as approved by the Programme Director and/or the Academic Board.
In addition to the above requirements, all short‐listed applicants may be required to take a screening test, comprising two translation and two interpretation tasks in Chinese and English and submit their answers by the deadline given. The final selection of candidates will be determined based on the results of the screening test and the review of their application.
 
The fee for taking the test is $76.30 (include prevailing GST).
