Mr Lee Jiawei

NTU EEE Graduand Lee Jiawei graduated with Bachelor of Engineering in Information Engineering & Media with Honours (Distinction). He reflects back on his time in EEE, his favourite activities, camps, and other adventures.

Jiawei felt that the time spent organising the Efinity Technical Orientation Programme and the EEE Induction Fiesta stood out as his favorite activities in NTU EEE. He said he had fun with his schoolmates, managed to do some tinkering in the lab, and of course, got to eat all the great food that was available!

Jiawei felt that the Information Engineering & Media programme was perfect for him: It offered him an interdisciplinary opportunity to take modules from EEE, SCSE, ADM and WKW, giving him the inside track arts as well as engineering.

As a College of Engineering Student Ambassador, Jiawei co-led a team of student leaders to organise HackAlliance 2021 with Dell Technologies with the NTU College of Engineering. The experience was memorable because it allowed him and his team to be exposed to the challenges of organising a college-wide event with an MNC. The stakes were high but the students managed to overcome the obstacles to hold a successful interdisciplinary hackathon.

Jiawei had a very fulfilling university life as he maximised his participation in multiple CCAs throughout his term. As a member of NTU CAC for three years, he took on four leadership roles in three different committees. His contributions were recognised by the club when he received the Pinnacle Award, the Outstanding Performance Award and the Long Service Award. He also took part in two CAC orientation camps as a Programmer. Between 2018 and 2021, also volunteered in raising funds for the Singapore Cancer Society and the Singapore Association for Mental Health. If that is not enough, Jiawei also competed in competitions such as the 2022 Imagine Cup, Shopee Product & Design Challenge 2021, SCDF x IBM Lifesavers’ Innovation Challenge: Call for Code 2020 and Build-A-Bot 2020.

His favourite module was Final Year Project as he had the chance to apply everything that he had learnt (Software Engineering, Art, Communications, etc.) and create something from scratch. His favourite faculty members were Assoc Prof Andy Khong and Dr. Wesley Tan who motivated and nurtured him and his course mates. The pair also focused on student growth and whole-heartedly invested in the students’ growth and welfare. Jiawei is really grateful for their unwavering patience and guidance!
