We are pleased to announce that Prof Zheng Yuanjin has been appointed as the MediaTek Professor in IC Design for the term 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2031.

The MediaTek–NTU Endowed Professorship in IC Design, established in 2011 in partnership with MediaTek, reflects a long-standing commitment to advancing research excellence and talent development in the semiconductor domain. Through this programme, NTU and MediaTek have collaborated closely to drive innovation in integrated circuit design while nurturing the next generation of technical leaders for Singapore’s semiconductor ecosystem.

As the global semiconductor industry experiences renewed momentum—fuelled by the rapid rise of artificial intelligence and increasing emphasis on supply chain resilience—the role of such academic–industry partnerships has become even more significant. The endowed professorship also aligns with Singapore’s Research, Innovation and Enterprise 2030 (RIE2030) strategy, which seeks to strengthen the nation’s capabilities in advanced manufacturing and semiconductor technologies.

The appointment of Prof Zheng underscores NTU EEE’s continued efforts to build a distinguished faculty and deepen impactful collaborations with industry partners. His leadership in IC design research is expected to further advance innovation, strengthen education, and contribute meaningfully to industry and society.

Prof Zheng shared: "Deeply honoured to receive the MediaTek–NTU Endowed Professorship in IC Design - where industry partnership meets impactful research. Looking forward to advancing chip innovation with strong industry–academia collaboration."

NTU EEE expresses its sincere appreciation to MediaTek for its generous support, which continues to enable high-impact research, foster academic excellence, and drive meaningful advancements in technology and innovation.
