Final-Year Project

Final-Year Project (FYP) provides you with the opportunity to showcase the abilities and talents you have acquired during your time at WKWSCI. Since its inception, one of the goals of the Wee Kim Wee Final-Year Project is for students to complete a project that reaches a wider audience than the school. Wee Kim Wee students do campaigns for clients that reach broad audiences. They produce videos that are shown at international festivals and win international competitions. They produce impactful journalism that is published in mainstream media. Our students have a remarkable record of completing research projects that are presented at international conferences and published in international, peer-reviewed academic journals.

From AY2021/2022 onwards, there will be some changes made to how FYP is being held.

Format of FYP

FYP remains as a year-long project where students continue to creatively drive their projects with guidance from their project supervisor. FYP will be held in a supervision model, where there will no longer be any weekly seminar sessions. Instead, groups are strongly encouraged to set routine consultations on their project development. This arrangement empowers students to take on more initiative and allows flexibility in their timetable planning.

Matching of supervisors with project groups

Each faculty member will be supervising 1-3 project groups, and the arrangement will be finalised in July/August. Further instructions on this will be disseminated after the online session. In the meantime, students may refer to the list of faculty member and their project interest area here for reference.

Refer to the following for more information:

  • Each student must complete at least 91AUs
  • Additional pre-requisites vary by project type
  • The requirement for pre-requisites will be strictly enforced

Students who have not taken all pre-requisites for their project type when the project begins will need to inform the WKWSCI Undergraduate Office of their plans to take the pre-requisites as co-requisites in Year 4 Semester 1 except some courses that must be completed before start of the Year 4 Semester 1. Each request will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
