Liquid Nitrogen Facility

Training

Due to the safety hazards involved in drawing liquid nitrogen, all personnel using the facility must undergo on-site training conducted by the facility administrator. Only upon successful completion of the training will staff or students be authorized to operate the facility.

Charging

• Charging applies to all research groups.
• Once trained, users can refill own dewars on a first come first serve basis.
  
• The current LN2 charging rate is benchmarked against Ariba Catalog LN2 On-site Refill rate.
• Penalty charges apply to all users for any operational damage/parts delay result in disruption of LN2 supply to the school.
• Penalty fee at $50 will apply to all users for not de-icing the pressure regulator and withdrawal valve properly after each top up which may affect the tank pressure.
• Key loss is charged at $35.
• Fill in the LN2 charging form on the designated workstation after each usage is a MUST. Warning and penalties will apply if inaccurate information is filled.
• We reserve the rights to change the charging rates and policies at any time without prior notice.

For authorized personnel who wish to draw liquid nitrogen, please obtain the key from the technical support staffs (see below).

You must equip and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and follow all the other Rules and Regulations when drawing and transporting LN2. Failure to do so may result in a ban from using the facility.
