An Introduction to Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors

26 Nov 2025 02.00 PM - 03.00 PM MAS EC ROOM 2 (SPMS-MAS-03-07) Current Students

Abstract
This lecture provides an introduction to eigenvalues and eigenvectors, a central concept in linear algebra. We will discuss what they are, how they can be computed, and what they tell us about a matrix. Examples from differential equations, geometry, and Markov chains will illustrate how eigenvalues reveal the essential

behaviour of many mathematical systems.
