Understanding a Protein’s Relationship with Our Telomeres

Scientists from the NTU School of Biological Sciences, led by Professor Lars Nordenskiöld, recently published their study in The Embo Journal on an essential protein, telomere repeat binding factor 2 (TRF2), that plays a critical role in stabilising and maintaining the structures of telomeres that organize and protect the DNA at the ends of our chromosomes.

Shining a light on upcycling plastic waste

Scientists from the NTU School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) have found an efficient and effective plastic upcycling method that makes use of a commercially available catalyst and light to turn most non-biodegradable plastics into useful products at ambient temperature and pressure.

Molecular Mechanism of Plant Oil Biosynthesis – First Authors Feature: Yuzhou Yang and Audrey Lim

2 of our Ph.D students from Assistant Prof Wei Ma‘s lab published their papers in Plant Physiology in May and July this year. Yuzhou Yang first-authored “Transcription factor bZIP52 modulates Arabidopsis seed oil biosynthesis through interaction with WRINKLED1” together with Dr. Que Kong, senior research fellow and lab manager of Asst. Prof. Wei Ma’s lab.
