Ms Chu Swee Yeok (Chairperson)

Swee Yeok is the Chair and Founding Partner of AGP, and is the Senior Advisor to EDBI. She is an experienced business leader with over 35 years of expertise in management, investments, and strategy development. Prior to this she was the CEO and President of EDBI since 2009, responsible for the development and execution of investment strategies at EDBI. Championing the management of multi billion-dollar assets in funds and direct investments spanning US, Europe, China, SEA and Singapore in healthcare, digital technologies, financial services, advanced manufacturing, sustainability, and other high growth sectors, she successfully transformed EDBI from a passive state-owned fund management company into an active, reputable internationally recognized investor on a global stage.

Prior to EDBI, she was the founding CEO of Bio*Capital, a billion-dollar global biomedical healthcare fund, which made significant investments in US, Europe and China, including seeding many innovative start ups and joint venture companies in Singapore. She was a pioneer of Singapore’s biomedical initiatives including establishing the first global biotech funds at EDB in 1980s. Additionally, whilst at EDB and A*STAR where she helmed concurrent senior positions, she drove the conceptualization of strategic plans and their successful execution through multiple agencies, laying the necessary foundations for growing the healthcare biomedical sector into one of the major contributors of Singapore’s economy today.

Swee Yeok brings with her deep experience and extensive network into the local and overseas ecosystems of industries that she has been involved in over the last 35 years. She serves on the board of NHG, the largest healthcare group in Singapore as well as several other private and public companies. She also advises research entities like A*STAR on research translation and commercialization strategies. Ms Chu graduated with BSc Honors in Biochemistry from NUS and from Harvard Business School’s Executive Advanced Management Program.

Mr Chow Chung Ping 
Managing Director
Genedata Pte Ltd, Singapore

Mr Chow Chung Ping is currently the managing director of Genedata Pte Ltd, subsidiary of a bioinformatics company based in Switzerland, Genedata AG. His role includes setting strategic directions, managing operations, and driving growth in the Asia Pacific region.

Prior to joining Genedata, Chung Ping was a scientific and business manager in Waters, an US-based analytical technology company, and a researcher in the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in the field of bioprocessing and -omics technologies. Over the years, Chung Ping has experience across scientific applications such as metabolomics, lipidomics, glycomics, natural products, food and water research, and biopharmaceuticals. He has regularly contributed to the scientific community through peer-reviewed publications, served as main committee member in the Singapore Society of Mass Spectrometry (SSMS), and has given more than twenty technical presentations in international conferences, invited meetings, and guest lectures.

As a way of giving back to the society, Chung Ping has been supporting academic activities through career talks, industry sharing sessions, and providing industry support for new education programmes at the university and polytechnic level. Chung Ping was given the Medal for Operation Flying Eagle (OFE) in 2005 by the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) for his contribution in the Boxing Day Tsunami disaster relief operation; and most recently, awarded the Nanyang Outstanding Young Alumni Award in 2021 for his career achievements.

Chung Ping obtained his degree in Biological Sciences from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and a Master’s in Business Administration from University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. He is also an Advanced Level Certified Analytical Professional with Singapore Management University.

Dr Lam Kong Peng
Executive Director
Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN)

Dr Kong-Peng Lam obtained his BA (summa cum laude) at the University of Minnesota and his M.A., M. Phil and PhD at Columbia University in the USA. Thereafter he joined the Institute for Genetics at the University of Cologne in Germany as a postdoctoral research scientist, where he was awarded both the European Molecular Biology Organisation (EMBO) and Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) long-term fellowships to study B cell development using conditional gene knockout approaches. He returned to Singapore in 1998 and assumed the position of Principal Investigator at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB). In 2002-3, he attended the Sloan Fellow Program at Stanford University Graduate School of Business where he graduated with an MSc (Management) degree. He was seconded to Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) Biomedical Research Council (BMRC) where he served as Director (2003), Deputy Executive Director (2004) and Executive Director (2005-2006). He contributed to the establishment of Biopolis and was instrumental in setting up its key infrastructure.

Kong-Peng returned to full-time research and was the founding Executive Director of the Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN) from 2006 to 2008. He conceptualised its research programs and set up its physical laboratories. He joined the Bioprocessing Technology Institute (BTI) as Scientific Director in 2009 and was its Executive Director from 2011 to 2020. Under his leadership, BTI expanded its research in Biologics Discovery & Development, Cell Therapy and Analytical Science & Technology and established major research collaborations with international and local biopharma and biotech companies such as GSK, Amgen, SCIEX, Waters, Bio-Rad, Organo, Biosana, Prestige, and Esco-Aster. Kong-Peng was re-appointed Executive Director of SIgN in July 2020 to re-shape and reposition the institute for RIE2025.

Kong-Peng was awarded NUS Outstanding Researcher Award, the Singapore Youth Award in Science & Technology (2000), and the Arthur Kornberg Memorial Medal (2010). He currently served as Vice-President of the Asian Federation of Biotechnology (AFOB) and is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of MiRXES, a local biotech that focused on miRNA as diagnostics.

Mr Lee Chong Eu Steven

Mr Lee Chong Eu Steven is the co-founder and chief technical officer of JobKred, a company that uses predictive analytics and data science to connect job seekers to best opportunities and help employers find their top prospects.

He is responsible for the company’s technical development, research program, university collaboration and advanced technology incubations. He leads the technical and data science team to pioneer the skills-jobs matching algorithm that earn multiple awards and public recognition for the company. In addition to his extensive data science and technology experience, Chong Eu is also a trained academic researcher.

Prior to joining JobKred in 2014, Chong Eu worked a as project officer at the Statistical and Multi-Scale Lab in Nanyang Technological University, one of the top complex system and computational simulation research group in the school. He covered projects such as Large-Scale crowd simulation, discrete model for vehicular traffic flow analysis and High-Frequency stock data analysis.

Chong Eu also co-founded other successful start-up that accrued more than S$500K annual revenue in its infancy year and established the company overseas (Hong Kong).

Chong Eu holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Applied Physics and Mathematics minor from the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), where his research focused on swarm intelligence.

Ms Doris Sohmen-Pao
President
International Women's Forum (Singapore)

Doris was Chief Executive Officer of the Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI). Doris joined HCLI from the Singapore Public Service Division where she was the Director for External Outreach, with a focus on developing relationships and synergies between the public and private sector. She is currently serving as the President of the Singapore chapter of the International Women’s Forum.

Before joining the Singapore Civil Service, Doris was one of the founding leaders of Yale-NUS College. Her first role at the College was the EVP of administration where she set up and oversaw the admissions, finance, human resources, public affairs and grounds and building departments. Her last posting at Yale-NUS was as the EVP for Institutional Projects - a role which covered public affairs, institutional research, alumni affairs and external outreach.

Doris’ experience spans industries and geographies. She was the Director of Human Capital at Bain & Company, and before that, the Director of the MBA Program at INSEAD and then at Singapore Management University, where she created and launched the MBA program. She was also briefly at Ngee Ann Polytechnic as a Visiting Lecturer. Her experience also extends to working in multiple media ventures, including an internet start-up, Time Inc. International, Hearst New Media and Price Waterhouse LLP in their telecom and media division. Over the years, she has worked in Hong Kong, London, New York, France and Singapore.

Doris graduated with a B.A. in Politics and Environmental Studies from Princeton University and an MBA from Harvard University. She has experience working on a number of boards of educational institutions including Princeton University, United World College (SEA), and the INSEAD Advisory Committee of Southeast Asia.  Currently, she serves on the Institute for Human Resource Professionals, Yong Siew Toh Conservatory, and Singapore National Gallery Boards.  She is Korean-American.

Dr Sandhya Sriram

Dr Sandhya Sriram is currently the CEO of Sprout Agritech, a deep tech accelerator and investment fund based in New Zealand.

Sandhya is a serial entrepreneur having started 3 companies – BiotechinAsia, SciGlo and Shiok Meats - in the last decade. She is also a Visiting Research Scientist at the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand.

Her last startup, Shiok Meats, based in Singapore, is the first cell-based seafood & meat company in Southeast Asia and the first cell-based Crustacean company globally. With her at the helm as the Group CEO (2018-2024), Shiok Meats has raised US$30 Million in funding since its inception in 2018, from a global suite of investors - USA, Europe, Singapore, Japan, South Korea to name a few. Shiok Meats also acquired Gaia Foods, a cultivated red meat company, headquartered in Singapore as well. Shiok Meats underwent a merger with another cultivated seafood company recently. She successfully completed two M&As and had a successful exit on Shiok Meats via a merger.

A stem cell biologist and scientist by training and education (NTU alumni), a former business development professional, a serial entrepreneur, and a thought leader - all in one - Sandhya was named as part of the 2021 class of Bloomberg New Economy Catalysts, featured on TIME magazine and Forbes Women in Tech. She is also an advisor, mentor and investor to trailblazing Food Tech start-ups and has spoken at leading industry conferences worldwide.

She was also a Council Member at the Global Future Council on the Future of Food and Water Security, World Economic Forum and an Advisory Board Member at the College of Science, Nanyang Technological University. She is an angel investor in 5+ alternative protein companies/funds.

Dr Bryan Tan

As Carro’s Group Chief Scientist and President Director of Carro Indonesia, Bryan leads technological innovations and strategic operations across Southeast Asia. In his role as President Director of Carro Indonesia, he oversees market expansion, business strategy, and operational excellence, driving Carro’s vision to revolutionize the used car industry through cutting-edge technology and data-driven solutions. Under his leadership, Carro Indonesia has strengthened its position as a leading automotive marketplace, leveraging AI, machine learning, and digital transformation to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.

As Group Chief Scientist, Bryan spearheads advancements in data analytics, machine learning, and AI-driven solutions to optimize Carro’s ecosystem. These include innovations in usage-based insurance, telematics, computer vision, and engine sound analysis—technologies that enhance transparency and efficiency in vehicle inspections and transactions. His contributions have been instrumental in Carro’s expansion, with the company being recognized by Financial Times in 2021 as the fastest-growing company in Asia Pacific, surpassing $700M in annual revenue.

Beyond the corporate realm, Bryan is an accomplished academic with a PhD from the University of Cambridge in Earth Science. He has taught and lectured at prestigious institutions such as Goldschmidt-Paris, University of Cambridge, Oxford University, and Australian-ANSTO on topics ranging from nuclear physics to computer engineering. He is also an esteemed fellow or associate of professional organizations including The Geological Society (London), The Oxford and Cambridge Society of Singapore, and the Society of Medical Physicists (Singapore).

Dr Tan Si-Hui
Chief Science Officer
Horizon Quantum Computing

Dr Si-Hui Tan is the Chief Science Officer at Horizon Quantum Computing and a Visiting Professor of the Niels Bohr International Academy at the University of Copenhagen. Prior to joining Horizon, she was a researcher for five years at the Singapore University of Technology and Design and for three years at the A*STAR Data Storage Institute.

Tan holds a Bachelor of Science with honours in Physics from Caltech and PhD in Physics from MIT. Her research interest is in quantum information science, which lies at the intersection of quantum mechanics and information theory. Tan has pioneered novel protocols that provides enhancements by harnessing quantum mechanical features, including cryptographic primitives for quantum networks and sensing primitives for quantum radar. She has co-authored 19 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings.

In addition to her research pursuits, Tan is active in public service. She co-founded the SUTD Postdoc Society and served as its President for a year. She is currently a member and elected Treasurer of the Zonta Club of Copenhagen Multicultural, which empowers women through service and advocacy.

Ms Shirley Wong
Managing Partner
TNF Ventures Pte Ltd

Ms Shirley Wong is an entrepreneur and has more than 28 years of experience in the IT & Technology industry. Currently she is the Managing Partner of TNF Ventures Pte Ltd. Prior to the current role, she oversees the management and operations of the BT Frontline group in Asia Pacific, driving the professional services business for IT Security, Healthcare and Applications Development. She was the Chairman of Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation from 2013 to 2016.

Shirley co-founded Frontline Technologies in 1994, and it was listed on the Singapore Exchange in March 2001. Under her stewardship, the company has grown from a team of 8 to 5000 workforce spread across 11 countries in Asia Pacific. Subsequently, the company was acquired by British Telecom Global Services in March 2008.

She has been active in the startup scene, helping startups to secure funding, access to resources, market connections and go to markets. She is incredibly passionate about entrepreneurship and is excited to help build the startup community in Singapore. She engages in various judging events such as President Science & Technology awards, National Infocomm Awards, SiTF Awards and Asia Pacific ICT Awards etc.

Shirley serves on the board of Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore, Singapore Science Center, National Kidney Foundation, Co-chairman of the Cyber Security Awareness Alliance, Vice Chairman of South Asia Business Group, Chairman of NKF Volunteer and Patient Advocacy Committee and member of Temasek Polytechnic IT School Advisory Council.  

In 2020, Shirley was honoured as one of the 100 women who have achieved outstanding accomplishments and made significant contributions in tech, in the inaugural Singapore 100 Women in Tech List.

Mr Wong Yue Jeen
Chief Commercial Officer
SIA Engineering Company

Mr Wong was appointed to his current role of Chief Commercial Officer on 1 April 2024. Prior to his latest appointment, he was responsible for the Partnership Management and Business Development divisions. He joined SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) in March 2008 and has held various roles in the company including positions in Aircraft & Component Services, Base Maintenance and Engine Services.

Prior to joining SIAEC, Mr Wong held senior management roles at other organisations such as General Electric, ABB-Alstom, SAP and ICI, with responsibilities in areas such as business development, finance, commercial management and marketing, as well as engineering project development and quality management.

Mr Wong is a Director of Asia Pacific Aircraft Component Services Sdn Bhd, Eagle Services Asia Private Limited, Singapore Aero Engine Services Private Limited, Panasonic Avionics Services Singapore Private Limited, Pos Aviation Engineering Services Sdn Bhd and Base Maintenance Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. He is also President of the Association of Aerospace Industries (Singapore).

Mr Wong holds a joint Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Mathematical and Information Science at La Trobe University, Australia. He is also a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (CEng FIET), as well as a Member of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (CA) and CPA Australia (CPA).

Mr Joseph Chia
Vice President and General Manager (Fab Management)
GlobalFoundries

Joseph Chia is Vice President and General Manager of GF’s 300mm Fab Operations in Singapore, responsible for leading the customer-focused and advanced technology 300mm space, with world-class yield and automotive quality.

With more than 30 years of semiconductor fabrication experience, Joseph began his career at SGS-Thomson Microelectronics in 1990 and then joined Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing. Throughout his career, Joseph gained experience in Etch and Thin Film engineering, Yield Engineering, Customer Engineering and Quality & Reliability Assurance and had led Customer Engineering and Quality & Reliability Assurance, as well as 200mm Fab Operations for many years prior to his current role. Joseph had also worked at TriTech Microelectronics (a Fabless design house) responsible for Customer Quality in his early years. Thus, from where he started as a rank-and-file engineer in the Fab engineering modules, he came a full round after several cross-functional departments to be back leading Fab Operations.

While Joseph was in Quality & Reliability Assurance, he was deeply involved in transforming the Automotive Quality mindset through many years of fun and interactive employee engagements. He was the brainchild for creating a Music Video featuring an original song on automotive mindset, a mini-movie comedy series and a mini-movie Sci-Fic series to bring home the importance of Automotive Mindset to the operators, technicians, and engineers. 

When Covid-19 started in 2020, Joseph also wanted to reach out to his fellow colleagues across the globe (since GF is a global company) to stay strong and united. He initiated and composed an original song sung by different nationalities across different continents resulting in a ONEGF Together Music Video which was widely received on LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram. Joseph is also the annual Dinner and Dance (D&D) chairman for the last six years. In the pandemic years, he has worked on different platforms to engage the employees annually so that the employees are recognised for their contribution and solidarity even though D&D could no longer be held in ballrooms.

Joseph holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics and an MBA both from the National University of Singapore. He has won several company-wide awards – CEO Award as well as Outstanding Leadership Award.

Joseph is highly passionate about running a robust world-class high-tech 300mm wafer fab which is the largest in Southeast Asia. He is also very passionate about talent attraction, talent development and talent retention – especially in this current talent war. Locally, he has been engaging the various institutions – ITE, Polytechnics and Universities to employ and develop engineering talents. 

Since Joseph is a Quality practitioner at heart, he is also a thought leader in weaving Creative Thinking to Quality Management and sees both the innovative and analytical sides to be integrated in bringing optimal solutions to problem solving. He can also provide insights on current trends in 300mm Fab Manufacturing and how Automation and Digital Manufacturing bring about cost efficiencies and higher productivity and quality.

Mr Calvin Chong
Divisional Director of the Energy and Climate Policy Division (ECPD)
Ministry of Sustainability and Environment

Mr Calvin Chong is the Divisional Director for Energy & Climate Policy at the Ministry of Sustainability & the Environment. He oversees policy formulation, regulatory design, research and industry development for energy transition, climate mitigation, climate adaptation, and nuclear safety issues. He is the Singapore Government representative for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), and represents Singapore’s interests in climate change, particularly on environmental integrity and regulations at domestic and international fora.

Calvin’s career in public service spans more than 15 years, covering policy, strategy, and international roles. He was previously Director for Strategic Resource Management at the Ministry of Home Affairs. He has also served in the Ministries of Digital Development and Information, Education, Trade & Industry, and the National Security Coordination Secretariat at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Calvin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Columbia University in the City of New York, a Master of Philosophy in Modern Society and Global Transformations from the University of Cambridge, and an Edward S. Mason Program Mid-Career Master of Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School.

Mr Willy Chang

Bain & Company

Dr Willy Chang is a leader of Bain's Private Equity and Technology practices in Southeast Asia. He has more than 10 years of management consulting experience, advising both private equity and corporate clients in Southeast Asia. In particular, Willy has deep expertise in the Technology sectors - across 'deep tech' (e.g. Semiconductors, AI/ ML) and internet economies (e.g. eCommerce, On-demand services, Fintech, etc.). Within his focus areas, he has extensive experience advising clients on Strategy, M&A advisory, due diligence, and portfolio value creation planning.

In addition to client engagements, Willy is also the co-author of "e-Conomy SEA" - the leading annual report on Southeast Asia's internet economy published in collaboration with Google and Temasek.

Prior to his career at Bain, Willy spent 7 years as a researcher in physics. His research areas focused on quantum computing and semi/ superconductor systems. He has extensive experience working in cleanrooms and semiconductor fabrication.

Willy holds a Ph.D. in physics from Harvard University, and a B.A. in physics from Columbia University.
