1. Understanding and quantifying the processes that make volcanoes erupt which includes fieldwork, geochemical and petrological studies of the erupted rock and thermodynamic and kinetic experiments and models.
2. Monitoring time series data (seismicity, deformation, gas fluxes), and making probabilistic models for better anticipating volcanic eruptions using big databases (WOVOdat).
