Tired of dating apps, undergraduate creates matching-making service

Channel 8 online, 3 May -

NTU WKWSCI Year 4 student Zhou Xiuqi’s (transliteration) awkward experience with a guy she met through a dating app led her and her group of friends to start ‘Not A Dating App’ (NADA), a matchmaking service targeted at young people with the aim of reducing unpleasant situations. Xiuqi was motivated to start her own business during her internship in New York as part of NTU’s Overseas Entrepreneurship Programme. After returning to Singapore, she found that most local matchmaking agencies were expensive and did not focus on the graduate market. Realising the market gap, the NADA team decided to make a pitch on NTU’s ‘Pitch Day’ and received funding for their idea. Launched last year, NADA has already seen more than 700 sign ups.
