The Nanyang Chronicle Returns After Six-Year Hiatus

After six years in hibernation, The Nanyang Chronicle is back. 

The student-run newspaper, first established in 1994, has been revived by a dedicated team of students from NTU's Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI), who spent months rebuilding the publication and preparing its first issue for a new generation of readers. 

What began as an effort to create a new student publication soon evolved into something more ambitious. Inspired by the newspaper's history and legacy, the team chose to revive The Nanyang Chronicle, reconnecting with alumni and drawing on the support of faculty members to bring it back to life. 

The revival comes at a time when news competes with an endless stream of content for attention, particularly among younger audiences. Yet the students behind The Nanyang Chronicle saw an opportunity to create a platform for thoughtful reporting, meaningful discussion and stories that resonate with the NTU community. 

More than a publication, The Nanyang Chronicle serves as a training ground for aspiring journalists. Through reporting, editing and newsroom collaboration, students gain hands-on experience that complements their classroom learning while developing the skills and judgement required for impactful journalism. 

The return of The Nanyang Chronicle reflects the initiative, perseverance and passion of the students who chose to continue a legacy that spans more than three decades.
