Congratulations to WKWSCI Class of 2026 Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal and Koh Boon Hwee Scholars Award Recipients

Two graduates from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI) have received prestigious University awards in recognition of their outstanding achievements. 

Chen Jiaqi received the Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal, awarded to the top student in each programme who graduates with Honours (Highest Distinction). With a strong interest in research, Jiaqi completed both an Undergraduate Research Experience on Campus (URECA) project and a research-based Final Year Project under the supervision of Associate Professor Benjamin (Benjy) Li. She also took on leadership roles and contributed to the community through service initiatives. 

Jiaqi is currently a Research Assistant at WKWSCI’s SWEET Lab, which studies how digital technologies and AI shape human relationships and well-being, and hopes to pursue postgraduate studies in social science research.

Jermaine Yeo Jia Min received the Koh Boon Hwee Scholars Award, which recognises graduating students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and the potential to make meaningful contributions to society. 

As Vice-President of WeeVolunteer, WKWSCI’s student-led volunteering committee, Jermaine led initiatives supporting elderly beneficiaries and children with disabilities. She also pursued her interests in documentary filmmaking and sustainable entrepreneurship during her time at WKWSCI.

A meaningful part of the Koh Boon Hwee Scholars Award is the opportunity for recipients to honour educators who have made a lasting impact on their lives. Jermaine recognised Ms Nikki Draper, Assistant Chair (Student Life and Alumni) at WKWSCI, and Ms Elaine Lim (CS'08), her former lecturer at Temasek Polytechnic and a WKWSCI alumna, for their mentorship, encouragement and support throughout her journey. 

The award recipients were celebrated with their families, mentors and faculty members at NTU’s Convocation Dinner ahead of the University’s Convocation ceremonies. 

Congratulations to Jiaqi and Jermaine on their achievements. WKWSCI looks forward to celebrating the Class of 2026 at Convocation.
