With the climate crisis intensifying and extreme weather events becoming more frequent and severe, the need for inclusive, cross-border collaboration has never been more urgent. IAMCR 2025 provides an unparalleled platform for exchanging ideas, sharing best practices, and co-creating solutions that can help shape a more equitable and sustainable future for all.

IAMCR in Singapore

As a global leader in sustainability and urban innovation, Singapore is an ideal host for IAMCR 2025. Despite its compact size and limited natural resources, Singapore has pioneered ambitious initiatives like the Singapore Green Plan 2030, which targets carbon reduction, renewable energy expansion, and widespread green building adoption.
Singapore’s proactive approach to climate resilience—including a national carbon tax and comprehensive adaptation strategies—demonstrates a strong commitment to environmental responsibility and positions Singapore as a model for cities worldwide.

Beyond its environmental achievements, Singapore’s multicultural society and strategic location at the heart of Asia make it a natural hub for international dialogue and collaboration.

Home to world-class research institutions and a vibrant academic community, Singapore fosters inclusive, cross-disciplinary partnerships that amplify diverse voices in the global sustainability conversation. Singapore offers a dynamic platform for sharing knowledge, forging new connections, and advancing solutions for environmental justice on a global scale.

Professor Jack Qiu, Co-Chair of the Singapore 2025 Local Organising Committee, Chair & Shaw Foundation Prof of Media Technology, WKWSCI says, “Universities don't just teach and do research, they transform. At WKWSCI, we are committed to driving positive change through our community engagement and global partnerships. While the world faces unprecedented environmental challenges, hosting IAMCR 2025 is a pivotal moment for us to amplify the diverse voices, spark innovative solutions, and help shape a more just and sustainable future for all. As Singapore celebrates SG60, our 60 years of nation-building, we’re proud to host the IAMCR conference showcasing our commitment to international collaboration and knowledge sharing."

A Historic Return

Supported by the Singapore Tourism Board, this year’s conference marks a historic return of IAMCR to Singapore since 2000, reaffirming NTU deep commitment to international academic exchange and meaningful dialogue.

Professor Edson Tandoc, Jr., Co-Chair of the Singapore 2025 Local Organising Committee, President's Chair Professor of Communication Studies, WKWSCI, says, “Hosting this year’s conference reflects our School’s commitment to world-class, diverse, and inclusive research. We are excited to welcome international scholars to WKWSCI, to learn from their work, foster meaningful dialogues and collaborations, and showcase our faculty and students’ cutting-edge research. In addition to hosting our international guests, WKWSCI faculty and students will also be presenting 45 papers at the conference.”
As a unique platform to explore the intersections of communication, sustainability, and justice, IAMCR 2025 promises to be a transformative experience for policymakers and the global media and communication community.
