Study: Due to inconvenience, only 50 per cent of parents use car seats for their children

Although close to 80 per cent of local parents own a car seat, only half will use it every time they go out. The finding was from a survey of more than 500 Singaporean parents conducted by four students from NTU’s Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information. The students launched a campaign “The Safe Seat” last year to encourage parents to let their children use the car seat. NTU student Quah Jia Ling said, “Children are one of the disadvantaged groups in society, we want parents to understand that their children’s safety is in their hands and deciding to use the car seat is their responsibility.”
