​Students to play bigger role against fake news with media literacy toolkit

Students are set to play a bigger role in the fight against fake news, as authorities ramp up outreach efforts to combat the growing menace. One example funded by the Media Literacy Council (MLC) is a campaign by NTU students to warn students of the dangers of phishing scams. “Nowadays the scams out there are getting more sophisticated, and because of that we saw a need to educate and equip them with this knowledge on how to spot a phishing scam,” said NTU’s Cyrus Chng, who led the student team “Something’s Phishy”. “The young people are a driving force for change, because they are the tech experts at home.”
