While most tourists flock to Okinawa island for its beaches, others are drawn to its wartime past. Visitors to the Okinawa Prefectural Peace Memorial Museum in Itoman can read more than a dozen books filled with eye-witness accounts and watch videotape interviews of survivors. Desiree Loh (also writer of the article) and Nicholas Koo, who produced the video, are final-year students at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at NTU. They were participating in the School’s journalism programme, Going Overseas for Advanced Reporting.
