Only 20 per cent of students get enough sleep
Berita Harian, page 9
Even as 75.6 per cent of undergraduates are aware that they need at least seven to nine hours of sleep each day, only 20 per cent achieved the recommended duration. In addition, 63.6 per cent of the 200 undergraduates planning to get seven to nine hours of continuous sleep daily cannot achieve the desired duration. These were among the findings from a study conducted by four final year students – Ms Anushka Shrivastava, Ms Goo Yea Shin, Ms Mellita, and Ms Richelle Christianne Soliven – from NTU’s Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information. The survey of 209 students was conducted between October and November last year and was part of the Get 8nough Sleep campaign, a health campaign initiated by the four NTU students.
