NTU undergrads join fight against fake news
The Straits Times, page B2
Two groups of students from NTU’s Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information are hoping to do their part in the fight against fake news by equipping others with the ability to identify such misinformation. One group has started “Sure Anot”, an awareness campaign aimed at getting those aged 50 to 64 to stop, question and check the authenticity of forwarded news items on popular messaging platform WhatsApp. The second group of students is urging tertiary students to call out fake news when they come across it on social media or group chats, through a "Matter Of Fact campaign" which surveyed 305 tertiary students. Both groups will be carrying out post-campaign surveys to measure the effectiveness of the campaigns.
