​NTU students raise awareness with documentary; Documentary on mental patients in Indonesia grabs attention

For their final year project, NTU students Nurul Humaira Sajat, Nurul Atikah Hasimen, Chia Cai Yun and Kannan Vijakumar produced a documentary film that centered around the banned practice in Indonesia known as pasung, which refers to the practice of physical restraint or confinement upon a person deemed as mentally ill. The Living in Chains documentary was nominated for the Best Documentary Film category at the National Youth Film Award. It was also selected for film festivals in Glasgow, Scotland, and Washington, USA.
