Synopsis: COVID-19 took the world by storm and has brought about unexpected and unprecedented challenges.

In this episode, we have Professor Lisa Ng, Executive Director of ASTAR Infectious Diseases Lab and Executive Director of Biomedical Research Council of ASTAR Singapore. She is also part of the winning team that received the National Clinical Excellence Team Award in the National Medical Excellence Awards 2021 for their work in the fight against COVID-19.

Her research interest focus on the immune responses of viral diseases that are epidemic in the tropical region. Her team has made several important findings and moved the human immunology field towards controlling Chikungunya virus and Zika virus infections.

For her previous work and contributions to SARS, she was voted “Most Inspiring Woman” at the Great Women of Our Time Awards for Science and Technology in 2005, and was conferred the Junior Chamber International (JCI) “Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World” Singapore 2013 Scientific and/or Technological Development Award.

In recognition of her meritorious research and development efforts on Asia’s infectious diseases, she was conferred the highly prestigious ASEAN (Association of South-East Asian Nations) “International Young Scientist and Technologist Award” in 2008.
