Kyxgo Hacks

Name of the competition: Kyxgo Hacks

About the competition: Kyxgo Hacks is a virtual hackathon that brings together participants to develop and present solutions to cybersecurity-focused problem statements. The event provides a structured environment for individuals and teams to design, build, and refine technical projects within a limited timeframe, emphasizing practical application and thoughtful system design. Participants submit their completed projects on Devpost, where they are evaluated based on criteria such as technical depth, innovation, and relevance to cybersecurity challenges. The hackathon concludes with a review process in which submissions are assessed by organisers or judges, highlighting standout approaches and implementations.

Date of competition: 3 June 2026

Achievement: Community Pioneer Award

Prize: Open Source Initiative Membership

REP Student: Anirudh Mannattil

Product/Proposal: The team designed AVA - Advanced Vulnerability Analyser, an AI-powered web application that analyses code snippets, URLs, and GitHub repositories to identify potential security vulnerabilities using machine learning models.

Description: AVA (Advanced Vulnerability Analyser) is designed to detect a range of common security issues, including Cross-Site Scripting (XSS), SQL injection, command injection, and other OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities, and provides structured outputs that classify findings by severity along with detailed explanations and remediation guidance. The system supports multiple programming languages and performs both code and URL-based analysis, offering insights into insecure patterns, misconfigurations, and potential exploit vectors, while maintaining a persistent scan history for tracking and review. The project was developed during the NTU College of Computing and Data Science Project Hub Programme, where students were grouped into teams and mentored by industry professionals to build and refine their products. Our team was mentored by Mr Albert Chew who is a cybersecurity expert from Microsoft. His guidance helped shape the technical direction and security focus of the system. Developed as part of a broader open-source initiative, AVA was also awarded the Community Pioneer Award in recognition of its contribution to collaborative development, community engagement, and its commitment to the continued open-source evolution and future enhancement of the platform.
