Alex Chong joined EPGC in early 2008, and is the pioneer staff member of EPGC. He was instrumental in the setup of EPGC since inception, and has been deeply involved in planning and development of EPGC's research infrastructure as well as operational, administrative and industry engagement functions.  Since 2016 he has helmed EPGC's efforts in Green Building R&D and test-bedding. 

Alex is also a member of the Microgrids Symposium International Steering Committee. Through this platform he has helped to further Singapore's visibility in the microgrids field among the international research community over the past decade.

Prior to joining EPGC, Alex spent over 10 years in the Aerospace and Defence industries. He had previously worked for DSO National Laboratories for over 8 years and had contributed to pioneer unmanned systems development for the SAF. He has also seen experience in the maintenance, repair and overhaul industry in the commercial aviation sector.

He holds a MTech in Software Engineering from the National University of Singapore, and a BEng (Hons) in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Manchester.
