Filtering and difference of opinion in the Netflix era

Netflix revealed recently that it had pulled out a total of nine programmes in selected countries following government demands to do so. Of these, five titles were removed on the instructions of the authorities in Singapore. In a quote published in The Straits Times in February this year, Dr Liew Kai Khiun who was then an assistant professor at NTU said that censorship in this era of digital media has moved from denial of access to maintaining official political and moral positions.
