Would you pay more than $200 to see your favourite stars up close? Fan meetings are ticketed events where fans can meet their favourite stars. Assistant Professor at Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information Liew Kai Khiun, whose research interests include Asian pop culture, says fan meetings are a way for companies to monetise their artists. "For artists who can no longer rely on album and DVD sales in the digital age, paying for their physical presence is one of the few ways of covering cost and generating revenue."
