In a feature that looked at the effects of using social media and micro-influencers to get publicity for more serious topics such as the Budget and anti-crime messages, Prof Ang Peng Hwa from NTU’s Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information said the nature of social media is that there is some element of interaction, with certain things being selectively reinforced, and others selectively weakened. One needs to look at how the message is being received on the ground.
