Veteran actors are stealing the show as Singapore’s ageing society and changing media landscape give rise to more programmes for older viewers. Asst Prof Liew Kai Khiun of the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at NTU noted that to put things in perspective, dramas about the silver brigade are still not common overall. "Television dramas in Asia still prefer an inter-generational mixed cast of characters centred on the younger artists, who are able to play realistically more exciting roles and endorse a wider range of products," he said.
