How to determine the veracity of news given the abundance of fake news

It is a skill to determine the veracity of news in this era where fake news abound. Many members of the public might pass on unverified information and news that they receive. Prof Ang Peng Hwa from NTU’s Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information said seniors aged 50 and above were more likely to spread unverified news and information. He also said most messages that requested recipients to forward on to their friends were also likely to be pranks.
