Prof Ang Peng Hwa from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information said Singaporeans should consciously analyse and check the source of any news and information they read. He said there are three ways to help identify fake news. Firstly, check the source and reliability of news. Secondly, scrutinise the clarity of content, typos, and check if the content is discrepant and inconsistent with the reporting way of mainstream media. Thirdly, assess the news and ask yourself if the news is safe and trustworthy.
