​CPF members can check balance from video

Members of the Central Provident Fund (CPF) can check their account balance from personalised videos and learn information on how to use these funds. The video will be automatically deleted in 45 minutes after it is created and produced again when the user logs in again. Asst Prof Chen Lou from NTU’s Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information said if the video’s narration is effective, it will be retelling the information on the paper bill as well as an easier way of letting the public absorb the information. Asst Prof Chen said, “Reading and interpreting words need higher cognition ability and some may turn away from that. Videos give people a relaxed and approachable feel, and help in narrating incidents. People like to listen to stories, and it may be a good way to use videos to tell stories.”
