The Ministry of Law said in its Copyright Review Report issued on Thursday (Jan 17) that new laws will be tabled in Parliament some time this year to ban the sale of media streaming boxes with "add-on" services that help consumers to access pirated content. Communications professor Ang Peng Hwa at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, NTU, said targeting the sellers was more efficient. He added, "We have to act against piracy because of our aim to be a hub for intellectual property rights and our obligations under the trade agreements."
