Strengthening Academic Ties: The Portuguese Embassy visits CoHASS and CML

On Thursday, 9 October 2025, the Ambassador of Portugal to Singapore, Dr. Carlos Pires, and the Deputy Head of Mission of the Portuguese Embassy, Dr Rita Mota Nogueira, were warmly welcomed at the Centre for Modern Languages (CML), School of Humanities (SoH), College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CoHASS), Nanyang Technological University. The visit centered on discussions regarding the upcoming launch of the Portuguese language module, which CML is preparing to offer as part of its expanding foreign language curriculum. The Dean of CoHASS, Professor Jon Wilson, the Director of CML, Mr. Jean-François Noël Ghesquière, and Ms. Estelle Bech, Interim Coordinator for Portuguese at CML, conducted the meeting. His Excellency and the Deputy Head of Mission expressed a strong interest for CML initiative and CoHASS programs and are looking forward to strengthening academic ties between NTU and Portuguese Institutions.
