Global Philosophy of Science Scholars Convene at NTU for Inaugural APSA Conference

The NTU School of Humanities successfully hosted the inaugural Asian Philosophy of Science Association (APSA) Biennale Conference from 22 to 24 July 2026, welcoming philosophers of science from around the world for three days of scholarly exchange and collaboration. Organised as the first biennial conference, APSA 2026 reinforced NTU's position as a leading hub for philosophical research in Asia, bringing together established academics, emerging scholars and students to explore contemporary issues in the philosophy of science.

A highlight of the conference was its keynote lecture series, featuring internationally renowned philosophers Professor Craig Callender (University of California, San Diego), Professor Catarina Dutilh Novaes (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), and Professor Kevin J.S. Zollman (Carnegie Mellon University). The invited speakers shared their research spanning the philosophy of time, logic, social epistemology and scientific reasoning, offering participants fresh perspectives on some of the field's most pressing questions while inspiring lively discussion throughout the conference.

Across three full days, the conference programme featured a vibrant line-up of parallel sessions, lightning talks and poster presentations by both established scholars and early career researchers.

The conference also celebrated emerging talent through the presentation of the inaugural APSA Early Career Prize, awarded to Yuang Chen, a PhD student in the Department of Philosophy at the National University of Singapore. The new award recognises outstanding contributions by early career researchers and underscores APSA's commitment to supporting the next generation of scholars as the association continues to foster excellence and collaboration in philosophy of science across the region.
