Assoc Prof Michael Stanley-Baker to Represent Singapore at ASEAN PharmaTable Conference

Associate Professor Michael Stanley-Baker (History) has been invited to represent Singapore at the upcoming ASEAN PharmaTable Conference, set to take place in Thailand in May 2026.

The conference brings together representatives from across Southeast Asia. A/P Stanley-Baker was invited in recognition of his work on food heritage, particularly his recent collaborations integrating historical research with contemporary practices.

His course, HH2031 – History of Food in China, examines the cultural and historical dimensions of Chinese food, encouraging students to critically appraise food histories through multimedia resources such as videos of historical paintings and artefacts. Learn more about HH2031 here.

Associate Professor Stanley-Baker’s invitation at the ASEAN level reflects growing recognition of interdisciplinary approaches linking history, culture, and gastronomy.
