What to do if I'm confused about the need to both Share & Protect my Research Data?

NTU’s Research Data Management (RDM) framework began with the aim of supporting open science by encouraging researchers to plan for the sharing of their research data, especially as this becomes an increasingly common requirement by funders and journal publishers. This includes making non-sensitive research data available on the university’s open access research data repository, thereby enhancing research transparency and increasing impact.
However, this RDM framework within NTU has evolved significantly in recent years, driven primarily by internal factors such as internal audits, as well as external forces including geo-political developments and increased scrutiny on data security. Data protection issues are particularly pressing in collaborative projects involving commercial companies or governmental agencies.
How should researchers handle the need to both share and protect research data? This informal panel session aims to discuss this dichotomy and perhaps shed some light on researchers' pressing concerns.
