Breaking Boundaries in Innovation

The Research Centre of Excellence (RCE) programme was launched by the National Research Foundation and the Ministry of Education in 2007 to enable cutting edge interdisciplinary investigator-led research aligned with Singapore's long term strategic interests. NTU houses two RCEs focusing on  microbiology and digital molecular analytics.

Current Research Centres of Excellence

SCLELSE - Autonomous Institue

Discovers, controls and directs microbial biofilm communities and microbiomes for sustainable environmental, engineering, public health and medical applications

Advances the new science of digital molecular analytics to drive a paradigm shift in biomolecular measurement and diagnostics, and transform global health

Former Research Centre of Excellence

Builds stronger capabilities to tackle natural hazards, disasters and climate change for safer and more sustainable societies

Earth Observatory of Science (EOS) was an RCE from June 2008 to June 2023. EOS transitioned to a University Research Institute in July 2023
