Breaking Boundaries in Innovation

The Research Centre of Excellence (RCE) programme was launched by the National Research Foundation and the Ministry of Education in 2007 to enable cutting edge interdisciplinary investigator-led research aligned with Singapore's long term strategic interests. NTU houses two RCEs focusing on microbiology and digital molecular analytics.

Former Research Centre of Excellence

Builds stronger capabilities to tackle natural hazards, disasters and climate change for safer and more sustainable societies

Earth Observatory of Science (EOS) was an RCE from June 2008 to June 2023. EOS transitioned to a University Research Institute in July 2023

Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE) was an RCE from April 2011 to April 2026. SCELSE transitioned to a University Research Institute in April 2026.
