SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMMES
Scholarship Programmes
Various scholarships for full time study are available. Subject to the scholarship type, students admitted to NEWRI PhD Programme will generally receive:
- Full tuition fee subsidy for up to 4 years of candidature
- Monthly stipends, up to 4 years of candidature or thesis submission
- Conference allowance
Externally funded scholarship applications are assessed at the discretion of the fund providers, hence different opportunities may be available at various times throughout the year. For specific details on eligibility criteria, funding availability and application processes, candidates should independently contact the fund provider concerned. Please note that NEWRI does not take responsibility for the information regarding externally funded scholarships (which may change from time to time without our knowledge).
Admission Criteria
Admission is in August or January each year.

The selection process is highly competitive. Applicants are evaluated holistically based on academic results, research/work experiences, research proposal and other relevant experiences.
Applicants are required to submit their application via the NTU application portal. Please click here for application and admission details. Any other forms of submission will not be accepted.
All applicants are strongly encouraged to upload a short introductory video (< 3 mins) of themselves during application. Please provide the URL of your video in your application. Video link should be accessible for at least 9 months and not set to private. Priority assessment will be given to applicants who have prepared the video presentation.
The video should include:
- Your qualities, passion and motivation for pursuing a PhD in NTU
- Your career ambitions
- Demonstration of your research skills in key experimental/simulation/theoretical methods (optional)

Notes on Application
- Application will be reviewed upon
- Successful payment of application fee of SGD50 (nett), and
- All required supporting documents.
- Application fee payment is non-transferable and non-refundable.
- Complete set of supporting documents (must be legible) have to be uploaded via the application portal. Late submission will not be accepted. The School may contact applicants for additional information or documents at a later date (if required).
- Applications will be deemed invalid and will not be processed if payment is not made by the stipulated deadline and applicants will have re-submit a new application as a fresh applicant. No further notification will be sent.
