About Multiple Mini Interview (MMI)

MMI

Introduction to MMI

MMI is designed to assess a candidate’s aptitude and suitability for the MBBS programme. Candidates will be assessed on their understanding of medicine as a career, ethical considerations in medicine, interest in science and empathy towards people who might be ill.

Applicants invited for the MMI will complete a series of eight mini one-to-one interviews with different interviewers. Interviewers comprise faculty members, clinicians, allied health professionals and lay people. A simulated patient (actor/actress) may be involved.

Preparing for the MMI

  • If you are invited for the MMI, you will be informed through an email. Confirm your attendance and inform the School immediately if you are unable to make it to the MMI. Rescheduling is based on availability and a valid reason.
  • Observe the Code of Ethics that is sent to you in the invite.
  • Bring along identification documents. Results transcripts, co-curricular activities records, or recommendation letters are not required.
  • Dress comfortably, appropriately, and smartly for the MMI. Parents will not be allowed to accompany.

Actual MMI Day

Registration

Upon your arrival, the School will:

  • Check your identification documents to verify your identity.
  • Put you into groups and issue you a colour-coded lanyard. Wear the lanyard throughout the MMI.
  • Provide an introductory briefing on what is to be expected.

During the MMI

The entire programme for the MMI will take approximately two hours.

During the MMI, you may be seated outside the interview rooms to read the scenarios. Thereafter, you will be prompted to enter the room for the interview. This cycle will be repeated until every candidate has gone through the eight stations.

If you have finished your interview before the time is up, you may seek permission from the interviewer to leave the room earlier and wait for the next prompt. No extension is given beyond the time allocated for each station.

End of the MMI

You will be informed of the outcome by the end of April/early May.
