5th International Workshop on Solar Energy for Sustainability: Bioenergetics: Oxygen Production and Reduction

Held from 20 to 22 March 2018 at the Nanyang Executive Centre, NTU, the scientific essence of the workshop was diagrammatically captured in the energy cycle above, with the focus on the underpinning molecular mechanisms: the photosynthetic reaction responsible for splitting of water to the production of oxygen and its reduction by respiration to release energy in the form of ATP.

The distinguished speakers included Professors Rudolph Marcus (Nobel Laureate in Chemistry 1992), Sir John Walker FRS (Nobel Laureate in Chemistry 1997), Bertil Andersson, James Barber FRS (Imperial College London), Leslie Dutton FRS (University of Pennsylvania), Gary Brudvig (Yale University), David Britt (UC Davis), Wolfang Junge (University of Osnabrueck) and many world experts.
