Outreach and Engagement

International Science Youth Forums

The Institute of Advanced Studies inspires youths through its activities that allow students to interact face-to-face with eminent scientists and scholars from around the world, so as to develop a better understanding of research, discovery, and innovation that also serve society. In particular, IAS has co-organised the “Annual International Science Youth Forum (ISYF) With Nobel Laureates and Eminent Scientists” with Hwa Chong Institution since 2009.

In the formative years of the ISYF, IAS provided Hwa Chong with manpower and financial support, as well as connection with Nobel Laureate speakers and contacts of renowned international high schools. ISYF has now spin-off into a very successful series administered mostly by Hwa Chong whilst IAS helps with the invitation of eminent speakers upon requests by ISYF. The annual residential forum provides a platform where youths from around the globe get a rare opportunity to engage the world's brightest minds through Master Classes and Dialogues. The ISYF educators’ program also serves as a useful platform for educators worldwide to gain new insights through sharing sessions with eminent scientists and fellow teachers.  IAS and Hwa Chong are pleased to be able to contribute towards grooming talents for Science and Research, in line with the government’s vision to nurture creative thinkers, life-long learners and leaders of change.
