Ms Dewi Sendjaja

NTU EEE Graduand Dewi Sendjaja graduates with Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) with Honours (Highest Distinction) and a second major in Business and a minor in International Trading. Dewi is also the recipient of EEE Chair Award 2018 and EEE Excellence Award for her graduating cohort. She reflects on her four years in NTUEEE having been a student ambassador, a member of several student bodies such as Garage@EEE and MLDA, as well as an exchange student or Georgia Tech in the US.

At EEE, Dewi’s favourite activities were working on projects, organizing events and hackathons like Enitio, EEE Induction Fiesta and EEE Innovations Challenge with various friends, teams and colleagues. What was memorable for Dewi was the time she spent at Georgia Tech as part of her semester exchange. Things got off to a fantastic start: she got to experience an entirely different culture and had fun in the classroom but unfortunately had to return to Singapore due to COVID-19. She continued the rest of her exchange programme online.

Dewi said EEE gave her a variety of subjects to explore within the field of electrical engineering as well as numerous opportunities to pursue her interests. Her favourite moments include the planning for big school events such as Enitio and Induction Fiesta to the small things such as spending time with close friends in the canteens and Garage@EEE. According to her, it’s these everyday moments that bring joy.

Most importantly, Dewi says she has learnt how to become a better team player and grown a lot more as a problem solver. This helped her in performing well for several hackathons such as the Microsoft Imagine Cup as well as the SIA App Challenge. She especially enjoyed Data Structures and Algorithms (EE2008) module as it made her appreciate algorithm design and fuelled her interest in software engineering.

Dewi lives by her personal philosophy of sticking to a rough roadmap for the future while still doing her best in the present moment. One piece of advice she has for her EEE juniors is to truly discover what they are passionate about to work towards it, even if they feel lukewarm towards some courses in EEE. As the saying goes, everything will be alright in the end, and if it’s not alright, it’s not the end.
