The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) was one of the three founding schools of Nanyang Technological University (NTU), then known as Nanyang Technological Institute which was set up in 1981. Now the School is one of the component schools under the renowned College of Engineering together with five other engineering schools.

The School has about 160 faculty with broad and varied background and strong research and professional expertise. They are supported by more than five hundred research, technical and administrative staff members. Apart from teaching the undergraduate and graduate courses, faculty members are active in research and development, engaging in a broad range of collaborations with renowned overseas universities, research institutes and multinational companies.

To support advanced research, the school hosts 12 research centres and facilities which are equipped with sophisticated and state-of-the-art equipment. Besides the 12 centres, there are more than 50 laboratories, supporting both the teaching and research activities in the School.

Associate Chair's Message

Orientation2020ProfwANGQIJIE

A very warm welcome to the big family of the School of EEE. This represents one of the most important milestones in your life. Whether you are doing a coursework degree or a research degree, let me share some thoughts with you.

I believe that for most of you, your decision to embark on this journey is not an easy one, with opportunity costs in the career and family fronts that you may have to forgo for now. Hence it is important for you to always keep in mind your original intention to embark on this journey. Equally important, you should also be mindful of the potential difficulties or obstacles that lie ahead (time management, family commitments, uncertainty of the future employment, etc). It is essential that you prepare and plan well for it, so that you are able to overcome the difficulties or hurdles as they come along.

As you can see for yourselves by now, we are a big school with many potentials. It is now up to you to make the most out of it. We are in a time that the only constant is change. Therefore, while you are fully immersed in your academic and research work, do pay attention to the latest developments in science, technology, and social-economics. EEE does offer you with many opportunities so make sure that you always stay curious and hungry.

For some of you, this also means that you are away from your home country for the first time. Therefore, it is essential that you find the support that you need. If at any time you need to speak to someone, please do contact your supervisor, the pastoral care office in EEE, or the friendly staff from the Graduate Programme Office. I also encourage you to participate in the activities organized by EEE-Graduate Students Club. We are here to help make your journey a memorable one.

With this note, let me wish you all the very best in your EEE journey.
