Frequently asked questions (FAQs) about Scholarships

There are no restrictions; you can select all the scholarship categories in the scholarship application form that you want to be considered for.

Eligibility criteria can be found on the respective scholarships’ webpages. The scholarship selection committee will review your application and consider you for the best eligible scholarship available based on your merit.

For NTU scholarships, we also consider co-curricular activities and leadership qualities. 

You should list your top three personal achievements in the application form in merit order. These should be from within the last five years and can demonstrate achievements, such as academic prizes, contributions to arts and culture, community work, leadership, entrepreneurship or sporting achievements.

No, there is no fee to apply for scholarships at NTU.

We consider candidates for the best available scholarship that they are eligible for in the chosen scholarship categories. Outstanding candidates may be nominated and offered other scholarships outside of their selection.

Yes. Incomplete and inaccurate applications will not be processed.

Yes, returning NSmen who were unsuccessful in their full-term scholarship application may submit a new scholarship application during subsequent years before matriculation. 

Yes, the scholarship application is distinct from our signature programme application. You should submit a scholarship application if you would like to be considered for a scholarship on top of a signature programme. 

The application window for scholarships follows the admissions application window, which is set by the qualification that you’re using to apply to NTU. You can find a full application timeline here.

No, you should submit your admission application before applying for a scholarship. After you’ve completed your online application for admission, click on the Application for Scholarships link, which appears at the end of your online application.

The login details are you your application number and the same password that you created during your admission application. 

If you have a reserved place on an undergraduate degree programme at NTU, you can apply directly using the application number assigned to you on your admissions offer.

Please submit the following:

1. A list of your top 3 personal achievements or contributions within the last 5 years in merit order
2. A personal essay of not more than 250 words in response to 1 compulsory topic prompt
3. A recent digital passport-size photo

Your referee should be a school teacher or tutor and must not be a family member or relative.  

After you submit your scholarship application, you will be provided with a URL to be forwarded to your referee. When you pass the link to your referee, please provide them with your application number and date of birth, as both of those are required when they submit their appraisal. Your referee has 7 days from the date of your application to complete the online appraisal. 

You will need to provide the monthly total gross household income and a list of family members living in the same household. You will also need to upload a copy of family members’ identification documents and income statements, along with a completed Document Checklist. Please merge all files into one file before uploading, as the system will accept only one document upload. A copy of the Document Checklist is available here.

You will need to provide additional information and supporting documents relating to your talent domain, list of personal achievements specific to your talent domain and a portfolio relevant to your talent domain.

The same application period as for NTU undergraduate admission applies, and the process remains the same as for other undergraduate scholarship applications. In addition to your NTU scholarship application, please also complete the Tan Seow Chiap (TSC) Scholarship Application, which includes a statement of purpose. The statement of purpose should not be more than 500 words and cover your career aspirations in the field of STEM and how you plan to actively engage in community development.

The scholarship selection process evaluates both merit and aspirations, paying particular attention to:

• Clarity of the statement of purpose, which will be assessed on a 3-point scale, with 3 being the highest. This evaluation looks for clear and well-articulated thoughts that demonstrate your ability to effectively express themselves
• Recommendation letter from a school/CCA teacher, which will also be assessed on a 3-point scale, with 3 being the highest. This assessment helps gauge your academic performance, character and potential for growth

This scholarship is managed by a rotating secretariat and NTU is the secretariat in Academic Year 2026-27. The application period runs from 11 May 2026 to 2 June 2026. To apply please click here.

Scholarship interviews take place in mid-June, and shortlisted applicants will be notified via email to attend an interview in June. Applicants who are not shortlisted will not receive an email.

This scholarship is managed by a rotating secretariat. This year, the National University of Singapore is the secretariat. The application period runs from 5 May 2026 to 22 May 2026. Scholarship selection interviews will take place at the end of June and only shortlisted applicants will be notified via email in June to attend an interview. Applicants who are not shortlisted will not receive an email.

The scholarship coverage shall be stated in your offer letter and will be applicable during Semester 1 and Semester 2. If your scholarship covers tuition fees, it also covers tuition fees for exchanges during normal Semester 1 or 2. Fees for other programmes, such as GEM Discoverer or other programmes outside Semesters 1 and 2 are not covered.

Yes, you will be notified via email when your allowance is credited.

Yes, so long as you’re on an approved exchange programme during Semester 1 or 2.

No, the scholarship does not cover periods of vacation and special terms.

If you withdraw after matriculation, you may be required to repay disbursed funds, along with any applicable interest. 

Please refer to the scholarship’s terms and conditions in the offer letter for the specific academic requirements. Additionally, scholars enrolled in signature programmes are expected to meet the programme’s CGPA and other requirements to remain in the signature programme.

The scholarship offered to you is applicable for the programme indicated in the scholarship offer. If you change your programme during the admissions exercise, your scholarship offer can be withdrawn. You can retain the scholarship offer if you change the second major or minor without changing your primary major, subject to continued fulfilment of the scholarship eligibility criteria.

Your scholarship is conditional on having a valid admission offer to the programme indicated in the scholarship offer letter. 

Your scholarship is only valid if you take up the Ministry of Education tuition grant.

All shortlisted applicants will be notified via email to attend an interview, which may be in-person or online.

Scholarship selection interviews for freshmen usually take place within 2 months of the release of programme offers to successful applicants.

Only scholarship applicants who are shortlisted for an interview will be informed. If shortlisted, you will be notified via email and will be required to attend an interview on short notice. So please check your email regularly during this period.

The scholarship outcome decision is final. You may choose to withdraw your offer if you receive a better scholarship offer. However, in the event that we offer you an upgraded scholarship (such as if you are offered another programme, making you eligible for other scholarships), that offer will supersede any previously offered scholarship and you will be required to accept the revised offer.

Typically, you will be invited to attend one NTU scholarship interview, during which you will be considered for all the scholarships for which you are eligible under the programme you’ve been offered. If there are different arrangements, this will be stated in your interview invitation.

For example, for selected scholarships, such as NTU President’s Award, signature programme scholarships, talent scholarships, and donor-funded scholarships, additional rounds of interviews may be conducted.

Please contact your scholarship coordinator. As there are limited slots available, your request to reschedule may not be granted.

Please check directly with the school for the outcome of your scholarship application. Successful applicants will receive their scholarship offers before the end of May.

We will offer you the best eligible scholarship based on the undergraduate programme you have been accepted into.

You may be invited for an additional scholarship interview to be considered for the scholarships applicable to the new programme. Any scholarship offer applicable to the previous programme will be withdrawn.

No, you can only accept one scholarship at any given time. You must also accept the corresponding admission offer. If you do not accept the corresponding admission offer, we will withdraw our scholarship offer.
