TraceTogether adoption up to more than 60% as privacy concerns wane; users still bothered about battery drain

The adoption of the TraceTogether app and tokens stand at more than 60 per cent, getting closer to the 70 per cent target required to move to Phase 3. Among those who have not downloaded the app, the top two reasons were that they did not want to turn on Bluetooth all the time, or the app takes up too much battery power. Prof Ang Peng Hwa from NTU’s WKWSCI said that battery drain by the app could increase in a crowded place, as the app will use energy to send and receive signals from other phones nearby. He suggested that those who are concerned about this use the tokens instead.
