Pandemic driving adoption of health tech for the elderly

In a joint-commentary, Laura Deal Lacey, who is Executive director of the Milken Institute Asia and advisory board member of the Ageing Research Institute for Society and Education (ARISE) at NTU, and ARISE’s Executive director Theng Yin Leng, an associate provost of faculty affairs and professor at the WKWSCI at NTU discussed the many challenges faced by the elderly population that were amplified by the pandemic and circuit breaker restrictions. They include solation and loneliness, mobility and movement, and care coordination. The good news they said, is that such challenges are now faced by all spectrum of society, and that everyone is working together to find solutions that will outlast the pandemic.
