Leveraging technology to help the elderly live at home

Prof Theng Yin Leng from NTU’s WKWSCI, and executive director of Ageing Research Institute for Society and Education, believes that the key to large-scale adoption of senior technology lies in three factors. First of all, there needs to be sufficient funds. She pointed out that R&D teams generally receive three-year research funding, but it is difficult for technology products or services to reach a mature level during this period. The second key factor is whether seniors are willing to accept or adopt new technologies. The last key factor is to have a complete ecosystem.
