IN-cube Turns Five: Marking the Milestone with the AI Media Summit

IN-cube marked its fifth anniversary with the AI Media Summit, celebrating five years of impactful research and collaboration at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI).

The summit brought together researchers, industry professionals, and public-sector partners to explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping media work and public communication. Discussions spanned journalism, advertising, public relations, social media, and public trust, examining how people understand and use AI, how media practices are evolving, and how organisations and policies are responding to rapid change.

Reflecting on the milestone, Prof Edson Tandoc, Director of IN-cube, shared, “I couldn’t think of a better way to kickstart IN-cube’s fifth anniversary celebrations than with our AI Media Summit. It reminded us that innovation isn’t just about new tools — it’s about reimagining how we create, communicate, and collaborate. By bringing together bold thinkers, industry leaders, and emerging talent, the summit showcased how AI is reshaping the media landscape and unlocking possibilities we’re only beginning to explore. Hearing from our speakers and guests, including journalists, PR practitioners, fact-checkers, librarians, policymakers, tech experts, teachers, and students, I was reminded that the future of media is not approaching; it’s already here. I am heartened that we are building it together.”

We were honoured to host a strong lineup of speakers and to welcome distinguished guests from across academia, industry, and the public sector. As IN-cube marks its fifth year, the summit reflected our continued commitment to research that informs practice and advances public understanding.
