Brewing Bonds Over Coffee: SoH and SSS Alumni Associations co-host Specialty Coffee Appreciation Workshop

The Specialty Coffee Appreciation Workshop was held on 17 January 2026 at the Common Man Coffee Roasters (CMCR) Academy as part of the annual collaboration between the SoH Alumni Association and the SSS Alumni Association. The session attracted 20 enthusiastic participants from both schools, eager to learn more about the world of specialty coffee. 

During the workshop, participants explored the journey of the coffee cherry, discovering how it develops its natural sweetness and complexity. They also gained an understanding of how terroir and processing methods influence flavour, and how different roast levels affect both aroma and taste.

A highlight of the session was the coffee tasting, where participants sampled six different types of coffee, learning to distinguish and appreciate the unique flavours of three distinct varieties. The workshop provided a highly engaging and educational experience, combining hands-on learning with sensory exploration, and fostering connections between alumni from both schools.
