Editor's Note: April 2025

From Vision to Reality

By Sanjay Devaraja, Editor, The LKCMedicine

When the LKCMedicine 2025 Strategic Plan was announced in 2022, it outlined ambitious goals across education, research, organisational excellence, and community engagement. As we embrace the second quarter of 2025, it is clear that the School has made significant strides in realising this vision, with groundbreaking research initiatives, innovative educational programmes, and strengthened collaborations that continue to elevate our impact on medical education and healthcare.

Reflecting on the journey thus far since the plan was introduced, the School has not only achieved but in many ways exceeded its aspirations. A clear example of this is the Academic Respiratory Initiative for Pulmonary Health (TARIPH) Centre leading a multi-institutional research programme after being awarded Singapore's first national research grant for respiratory health. The award underscores LKCMedicine’s success in securing substantial research grants and its growing impact in the field.

As our research impact continues to grow, education and student engagement remain our priority. Our signature annual events such as the NTU Open House, Anatomy Challenge, and Peanut Butter & Jam (PBNJ) attracted numerous student participants, fostering a vibrant learning environment, and showcasing the dynamic academic and extracurricular opportunities available at LKCMedicine.

As we move forward, the challenge is to sustain this momentum and remain at the cutting-edge of medical education and innovation. The next lap of LKCMedicine’s growth promises to be just as exciting, if not more so, than the remarkable progress we have witnessed thus far.

Happy reading!
