Assistant Professor Jiang Zhiwei awarded the Underwood Medal from Institution of Chemical Engineers
Congratulations to Assistant Professor Jiang Zhiwei from the School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, Nanyang Technological University for being awarded the Underwood Medal.
Assistant Professor Jiang Zhiwei has been awarded the Underwood Medal in 2026 for his original and pioneering work on “ultrathin interfacial membranes in organic media separation, pharmaceutical purification, and high-value molecular separations, addressing pressing global challenges in energy efficiency and sustainability.”
The Underwood Medal, awarded by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and named after Dr. AJV Underwood OBE, is one of the most prestigious international distinctions in Chemical Engineering. The medal is awarded to an individual from academia or industry who has made a significant and sustained recent contribution to research in the area of separations. Assistant Professor Jiang Zhiwei is among the 18 individual recipients of IChemE’s 2026 Medals and Prizes winners.
Past recipients of the medal include internationally renowned leaders in separation science such as Prof. Neal Tai-Shung Chung (Fellow, Academy of Engineering Singapore), Prof. Andrew Livingston (Fellow of the Royal Society), Prof. Wanqin Jin (Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry), and Prof. Huanting Wang (Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering).
