Karl possesses deep knowledge of financial data and analytics, with applications in investment risk, counterparty credit risk, and performance measurement. He has a proven track record in implementing and managing risk solutions at the enterprise level, leveraging his multi-disciplinary expertise to drive strategic initiatives and enhance organizational performance.

Karl holds a Master of Science in Financial Engineering (Dean’s Honours List) from Nanyang Technological University and a Master of Engineering (First Class Honours) from the University of Cambridge.

Currently the head of Innovation & Analytics at Income Insurance Singapore, he leads efforts in machine learning and advanced analytics, focusing on innovative product design and strategic pricing. As an active member in the Data Analytics Committee of the Singapore Actuarial Society and AI Taskforce of the International Actuarial Association, he is committed to advancing the industry by organising training workshops and promoting data science applications.

Yanbin Xu is currently a Research Assistant Professor at the Insurance Risk and Finance Research Centre. His research focuses on climate economy and sustainability issues within insurance and finance, with a particular emphasis on climate anomalies and natural hazards. Working in a multidisciplinary field, he develops quantitative models for managing climate-related risks, contributing to the creation of more resilient and sustainable insurance frameworks.
